Adapting ESCO for the needs of the CCSI

Employment information about the Cultural Creative Sectors and Industries (CCSI) is fragmented and thus hard to find, mainly because it is organised in different formats and classifications that do not fully interoperate in capturing the professional world. Therefore, it is a challenge for users to find their way in e.g., job portals, or funding platforms. Even more challenging is to produce objective information that can be used in strategic or political discussions.
The EU funded Creative FLIP project aims to develop a roadmap towards more visible and more accurate information on CCSI employment, using the European Skills, Competences, Qualifications and Occupations classification (ESCO) to define sectoral scope more clearly and comprehensibly.
In this experts workshop, participants will review some of ESCO’s occupational skills profiles, identify and cluster ESCO skills of interest for their area of expertise, and discuss transversally important characteristics required by people working in their sector. The CCSI domains in focus will be:
- Cultural Heritage: e.g. historical places, museums, archives, libraries, galleries, conservation
- Design, Gaming and Audiovisual Industries
Led by Creative FLIP and hosted by ECBN – European Creative Business Network as part of the #ECIS23 Conference, this skills gap and future skills workshop will take place in Helsingborg, Sweden.
