What is
CYANOTYPES

Community of Change for Creative Skills

CYANOTYPES is a unique pan-European project* dedicated to reimagining the competence ecosystems within the Cultural and Creative Industries (CCI). This project brings together a diverse community of organizations, stakeholders, and European networks to address the evolving needs and skills gaps in the CCI sector.

INSPIRED by the iron-based photographic process that gave the name to the original “blueprint” we know today, CYANOTYPES embodies this key moment of innovation, seeing in this very practise an exemplary episode of arts-and-technology experimentation that inspires creators to this day.

*We gratefully acknowledge the support of the European Union, which funded CYANOTYPES and its activities. CYANOTYPES is part of Alliances for Sectoral Cooperation on Skills, co-funded by the European Commission Erasmus+ Programme.

Our Approach

CYANOTYPES strategically adopts a triple-loop learning framework that:

  • Third Loop: Establishes a flexible framework to respond to disruptive changes with future skill sets, encouraging continuous learning and adaptability.
  • Second Loop: Emphasises the co-creative development of new competencies.
  • First Loop: Focuses on the effective adoption of existing and validated skill sets.

This approach ensures that our training programs are not only relevant but also resilient to the rapidly changing landscape of the creative sector.

Our Aim

Our Focus

We are committed to tackling the sector’s potential for innovation and competitiveness, addressing the challenges presented by the triple transition: social, digital, and green. By integrating specific and transversal skill sets, CYANOTYPES provides context-specific entry points and responds to disruptive elements within the sector through upskilling and reskilling processes. This leads to change and innovation in CCI education and training.

Our Aim

Our Community

By fostering a community of change, CYANOTYPES encourages collaboration among various stakeholders, including educational institutions, industry professionals, and policymakers. This collective effort ensures that our initiatives are comprehensive, inclusive, and aligned with the evolving needs of the Cultural and Creative Industries.

Through these concerted efforts, CYANOTYPES strives to create a sustainable and innovative future for the creative sector across Europe.
