CYANOTYPES at Creative Skills Week 2026
Over the past four years, CYANOTYPES has worked with higher education institutions, VET providers, cultural organisations, SMEs, policymakers and creative ecosystems across Europe to explore a fundamental question: what competences will be needed to navigate an increasingly complex future, and how can individuals, organisations and communities strengthen their capacity for collective agency?
Through research, experimentation and collaboration across countries and contexts, CYANOTYPES has developed and tested a competence framework designed to support resilience, innovation, sustainability and transformation across the Cultural and Creative Sectors and Industries (CCS).
Creative Skills Week 2026 marks an important milestone in this journey.
As one of the initiatives that helped shape and develop Creative Skills Week, CYANOTYPES will play a central role in advancing the conversation on future skills, lifelong learning and the long-term development of the sector. Throughout the programme, project partners will contribute to discussions on how competence development can support not only the cultural and creative sectors, but also wider European priorities related to innovation, competitiveness, democratic resilience and future preparedness.
A key moment during the event will be the presentation of the CYANOTYPES actionable recommendations and sector strategy. Developed through four years of research, piloting and dialogue with stakeholders across Europe, these recommendations identify practical pathways for strengthening skills development, innovation capacity, collaboration and long-term sustainability across the Cultural and Creative Sectors and Industries.
Creative Skills Week will also provide an opportunity to engage with the CYANOTYPES training approach. Dedicated sessions and exchanges will explore how the framework can support policymakers, educators, cultural organisations, regional ecosystems and other stakeholders in developing the capacities needed to address complex challenges, work across boundaries and translate strategic ambitions into action.
Participants will also be able to visit the CYANOTYPES Pilots Showcase, presenting real-life implementations of the framework across higher education, vocational education and training, SMEs, cultural organisations and regional ecosystems. More than a presentation of project outcomes, the showcase highlights how competence-based approaches can be applied in practice and what can be learned from their implementation in different contexts across Europe.
Under the theme The Difference that Makes the Difference, Creative Skills Week brings together policymakers, educators, researchers, cultural organisations, regional ecosystems and creative professionals to explore how culture, creativity and skills can contribute to Europe’s future resilience, competitiveness and capacity to respond to change.
For CYANOTYPES, this is the natural next step: moving from experimentation towards broader adoption, from individual pilots towards systemic learning, and from project outcomes towards long-term impact for the sector.
