The CYANOTYPES Pilot Showcase brings together a diverse set of experiences from organisations, networks and individuals exploring how the CYANOTYPES Framework and Toolkit can be used in practice. This article is a guide that helps navigate the showcase: where to start, what to look for, and how the individual experiences connect to the wider CYANOTYPES story.
What is a CYANOTYPES Pilot?
Through pilots, organisations and networks, individuals explore how the CYANOTYPES Framework and Toolkit resonate within their own contexts and ecosystems. Pilots create space to address future skills needs, experiment with learning formats, and adapt approaches to local realities across sectors. They can take different forms, from short learning experiments and workshops to curriculum prototypes, sector-specific training programmes and longer-term organisational initiatives.
Starting in spring 2025, organisations and individuals ran sectoral and cross-sectoral pilots across Europe and beyond. These co-creative pilots helped test and improve the Framework and the associated curricula in a large variety of learning contexts. The pilots involved different types of organisations, learners and stakeholders, and began from various questions and needs. They created a diverse showcase of experiences through which you can explore how the Framework can be interpreted, adapted, and used.
This article is intended as a guide for the CYANOTYPES Pilot Showcase. It helps you understand why organisations engaged with CYANOTYPES, what they explored, what they discovered along the way, what these experiences collectively reveal, and where to look for pilots that are relevant to your own interests or context.
Find your way through the Pilot Showcase
You can start with a particular country, sector or discipline, perspective, competence or tool, or simply browse the full collection.
The Pilot Showcase allows you to filter pilots by:
Status: Explore pilots that are Completed, In Progress or Planned.
Country: See where pilots are taking place, from individual national contexts to pilots working across countries and at European level.
Sector / Discipline: Dive into pilots rooted in particular cultural and creative sectors, as well as cross-sectoral approaches.
Lens: Look at pilots through different CYANOTYPES perspectives, including Businesses, Individual, Learning Organisation, and Sector & Network.
Competences: Explore pilots in relation to the competences and agency clusters they are working with.
Tools: Find pilots using different elements of the CYANOTYPES Toolkit, including the Blueprinter, Card Deck, Designing Learning Experiences, Effective Learning Approaches, Learning Plans, Self Assessment, Training Design and Work Based Learning.
This means a single pilot can be approached from multiple angles. You might arrive through a sector, discover that it addresses a competence you are interested in, and then explore the tool used to support the work. Or you might start with a tool and then explore how it has been interpreted in different contexts.
CYANOTYPES Toolkit: Start your journey by choosing the perspective that best reflects your work
That means that the Pilot Showcase can be used in different ways.
If you are an individual or professional working in the cultural and creative sectors looking for opportunities to transform your creative competences, you might want to explore what other people have done with particular competences or tools.
If you work in a creative organisation or business leading change and strategic adaptation and equipping organisations and professionals with greater resilience and adaptation, you might look for pilots that explore organisational change, new ways of working or skills-related challenges.
If you are part of a learning organisation looking for transformative learning approaches for organisations and wider ecosystems, you can explore how others have used CYANOTYPES to design or rethink learning experiences.
If you work across a sector or network supporting activities and advising your members on skills strategies at all levels, you can look at pilots that connect skills development with wider sectoral or ecosystem questions.
If you are interested in policy or regional skills development, and are driving innovation in the skills landscape and shaping sustainable creative ecosystems for the triple transition, the pilots provide examples of how questions around skills, learning and creative agency are being explored in different contexts.
The CYANOTYPES Toolkit provides further guidance for each of these perspectives, as well as access to the Framework and the tools used across the pilots.
The Pilot Story
What changes and what comes next?
